When you try your best but you don't succeed
When you get what you want but not what you need When you feel so tired but you can't sleep Stuck in reverse When the tears come streaming down your face When you lose something you can't replace When you love someone but it goes to waste Could it be worse? Lights will guide you home And ignite your bones And I will try to fix you High up above or down below When you're too in love to let it go If you never try you'll never know Just what you're worth Lights will guide you home And ignite your bones And I will try to fix you Tears come streaming down your face When you lose something you cannot replace Tears come streaming down your face And I Tears come streaming down your face I promise you I will learn from all my mistakes Tears come streaming down your face And I Lights will guide you home And ignite your bones And I will try to fix you Looking back at the year that was 2016 it’s really clear to me that I’ve continued to make best investment of my life. I’ve invested in the one thing I know has the ability to impact the world in the biggest way. I’ve invested in the one thing that has a huge upside. I’ve invested in the one thing that can make me happy and fulfilled. And I’ve invested in the one thing that can empower people to be the best versions of themselves… and it’s Bitcoins… I’m kidding. It’s ME. This year was a selfish (not in a bad way), transformational and life changing year. I made the decision that I was going to take back ownership of my life. No longer would I let external factors of money, fear, anxiety, anger, etc. impact how I felt. I took back the steering wheel after sitting in the backseat and letting one of those self driving life cars drive for too long. "If you don't have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over?" - John Wooden This wasn’t easy and by no means am I done. It’s daily habits, it’s motivational material, it’s using tools and more importantly coaches and people to support me. I need to be at my best in order to serve and contribute beyond myself otherwise I’m cheating the world of me. It's even more selfish to NOT think about yourself first. Because think about it this way there is no one in the world like me… even with a twin and having literally the closest thing to a clone of me… we are still completely unique and different. And so are you. So what happens next? My advice for 2017…
Thank you for everyone that has supported me in this journey. I really appreciate and love you all. Happy Holidays from me... and Josh! I’ve never been so excited for a year to end... not because it was a terrible year or anything. But because I’m building momentum and riding it into 2017. Usually I would feel burnt out by mid-November and really slow down through the end of the year and tell myself "hey bud, take a break and pick things back up in January". That was the old me... this year it’s gas to the floor to end 2016! HERE’S WHY YOU FEEL BURNT OUT BY THE END OF THE YEAR… January and February most people spend on goal setting then March rolls around and they start to implement new habits. The next couple months are split between trying new ideas and reverting to old habits to make some progress and feel good about the fact that the year is almost halfway over. Then... "hey! it’s starting to get warm out; what’s the point of doing anything now, you can’t get anything done in the summer?" Come the end of August… the year is ⅔ over “I have 4 months left and I haven’t accomplished anything!!”. Familiar? September kicks off hard… but right after Labor Day… and when the leaves start to change. So end of September until Thanksgiving it’s a grind and then its holiday party season. Looking back at your year or basically September-November and pat yourself on the back on a job well done and coast for the rest of the year but was it? And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years. - Abraham Lincoln There was no consistency in that model. Everything predicated on the fact that nothing was prepare for the next year in the previous year. Wasted time and energy when you could have been getting ahead. Who can relate to the process I just outlined? It’s exactly why the gym is so packed in January and February. New year, new goals… however most people haven’t done the pre work to build up the habit before January. So it becomes such a stretch, momentum is lost quickly and old habits emerge in the next few months when people fall off. What would it take for you to start feeling more fulfilled TODAY? Not waiting until January 1st to start that to-do list or set goals for the year. Or not feeling anxious about all the holiday plans or going back to work and not being able to relax. Or another year being finished and you still haven't found your way. What if you could take action RIGHT NOW? Think about it... and I will be back to share my solution before the end of the year :) HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT this Monday December 26th at 11AM EST involving my purpose to empower people to be the best version of themselves! Stay tuned! I want to wish you all a Happy Holidays & Happy early Boxing Day!
Sometimes you are the life of the party and you need to embrace that... be that life of the party. Be Paul, Rihanna or Kanye.
Why is it so difficult for most of us to accept praise? Think about it. When was the last time you were seriously able to say thank you when you had someone paid you a compliment? “Hey Jim, you were great in today’s call”... there’s a feeling of embarrassment or needing to be self deprecating and say “thanks… but I still suck at basketball”... Huh? How about being confident that, yeah I did well in there and it’s because I believe in myself? I’ve realized that I’ve avoided the spotlight for years because of that. I’ve gotten praise in the past and the narrative immediate starts… “Shit, now everyone thinks that I think I’m better then everyone. If I try too hard people won’t like me... and if people don’t like me how can I like me??... and if I don’t like me then who will? Dogs? Not cats they hate everyone. But even some dogs don’t like me either. Remember the nice German Shepard that supposedly would never barked at anyone growled at you... better make fun of myself”. I’ve since changed that because I’ve spent a lot of time figuring out what I’m good at and where I need improvement or opportunities to grow. That self discovery and emotional intelligence is such a huge part of personal development and really helps in every facet of life: relationships, family, career, spirituality, love, etc. This limiting self belief, it’s a big no no in personal development. The minute we don’t believe in ourselves or aren’t confident in our abilities we open the door for others to think that way as well. Who wants to fight with someone about accepting a compliment? If I give a compliment and the person isn’t genuine about their response it makes me feel crappy that I couldn’t help them and I’m less likely to give one out again. So in a sense you are ripping off the world. If you aren’t able to believe that you are the life of the party when you ARE the life of the party then the battle is lost. No matter how much praise you get it still won’t change your opinion. So practice receiving compliments and being grateful for them. Say “THANK YOU… I KNOW” but not in a snobby I’m better then you way. In a way that’s honest and appreciative and that brings meaning and fulfillment. I challenge you to go out and compliment people today/this week without any expectations. See how they respond and if they beat themselves up. If they do call them out on it… in a loving way. Let me know in the comments some examples you experience or ping me on Facebook or Instagram or Twitter. I’m addicted to motivational material. At times, there are days I’ll need hours of motivational videos, podcasts, vlogs, movies, books in a day to be even a little bit productive. When I need hours of motivational materials, it’s for a reason. Such as feeling physically off either tired, anxious and/or stressed. It’s somewhat ironic where most of the content I’ll consume is clamoring for me to take action and because of my feelings, I won’t want to hear that message...
